Conference: Beyond Psychiatric Diagnosis: Legal, Scientific, Humanitarian and Practical Implications

22nd June 2016, 11:00 – 15:30. The BPS London Office, 30 Tabernacle Street, London EC2A 4UE.

The Mental Health Service and the Legal System are closely linked. The limits and scientific legitimacy of the use of psychiatric diagnosis in mental health services is being openly debated and there is growing recognition of the need for improvement and change. Such change will have profound implications for the legal system. The British Psychological Society has been at the forefront of this debate and in developing alternatives. This free event will give attendees an overview of the current issues, insight into existing alternatives and awareness of new developments. Such knowledge will be essential for all those working in the legal system who want to remain abreast of advancements in this field.
